ADDMD Feature: Clonidine & Clonicel™

The "H" in ADHD and the "Storms" in Brainstorms appears to result, in part, from excess adrenaline in the brain, or in it's dysregulation.

Clonidine has been used for years for normalizing such adrenergic excess in a myriad of conditions. Because of Clonidine's short duration of effect, however, it has not proven to be practical for many who find dosing 4 to 5 times per day difficult on a long term basis.

A new extended-release form of clonidine is now available that aims to take the hassel out of the use of clonidine.

This chapter, from the new book, Brainstorms: Understanding and Treating the Emotional Storms of ADHD from Childhood Through Adulthood both reviews the history of clonidine use, and introduces "Clonicel", an oral extended release capsule of clonidine.

The complete edition of "Brainstorms" can be purchased from Amazon.com, your local bookseller or at CNHL.org. (see the "Featured Book" page for more information on this book).
